DDrobney Photography Studio, 12 Goose Ln, Tolland, CT 06084

Four sessions: Tuesday – October 16th, Thursday – October 18th

Tuesday – October 30th, & Thursday – November 1st, 2018

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Hello Friends!

This is series of art journaling sessions to write and make art, and is perfect for those who would like to start a creative practice, create and learn using different materials, make new friends, and come together to share their work and ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.

Four evenings 6 – 9 pm, October 16th, 18th, 30th, and November 1st

Each day we would explore different themes (flexible structure):

October 16th: Gratitude (creating the cover of our journals)

October 18th: Nature, working with tranfers

October 30th: Music and favorite quotes

November 1st: Dreams, writing

We will be using a pre-bound sketchbook for our art journal (a Canson mixed media 7 x 10 inch sketchbook). Each session will start with a brief meditation, short discussion to talk about the theme, meet each other, and get inspired.

Participants can follow scheduled theme or can work from their own ideas/themes, it is flexible. Prompts will be shared by email before meeting to help with inspiration and collecting materials if you’d like to have them prepared for the workshop. For example, for the theme of nature, maybe before meeting you’d like to collect leaves or images of favorite flowers etc.

Rebecca will have different materials on hand to use and experiment with. She will also guide attendees to create new ways to apply paint, pen, marker, images, use designs, stamps, inks etc.

It will be encouraged to continue to add to your art journal through writing or art making while at home in between sessions.

In each session you will:

♦ Learn how to create a work space that works for you to inspire creativity.

♦ Learn how to apply textures, play with color, include collage, & use different mediums.

♦ Connect to your artistic expression with Rebecca’s gentle & helpful guidance.

♦ Meet new people and share in a loving creative community.

Your Investment:

$215 for all four sessions or $60 drop-in

Art materials and instruction included, participants are required to bring their own art journal:

  • A Canson Mixed Media 7 x 10 inch sketchbook is great.
  • I also highly suggest art pens like a gelly roll (white) 08 pen and a black sharpie and to bring your own blow dryer to have on hand.

Feel free to bring any other favorite art materials, stamps, photos, etc. Bring a snack or drink to have on hand if needed.

Pre-registration is required. Deadline to register for all four sessions is Sunday, October 14th.

Do I need to be ‘an artist’ to attend?

No friend, all levels welcome, from complete beginners (first time painting anything!) to professional artists.

Anything I need to bring?

Yes, please bring a Canson Mixed Media 7 x 10 inch sketchbook. I also highly suggest art pens like a gelly roll (white) 08 pen and a black sharpie and to bring your own blow dryer to have on hand.

You may also bring favorite quotes, poems, images, stamps, etc.

Do you show us step by step?

No this is the beauty of intuitive art, after we discuss techniques, materials, ideas – everyone is free to create from those ideas. I will help you along the process & don’t forget we all will be support for one another.

What is intuitive art?

I would describe it as tuning into your source which is with you always, so there is no search required. More like surrendering to the results which develops greater trust in your intuition. You are able to fearlessly explore aspects of yourself that sometimes can only be expressed through art making. It strengthens your connection to the present moment which allows true expression.

It also courageously lets our imaginations take the wheel, just imagine the possibilities! All of these benefits can be met during the everyday challenges of our daily life, to which, we can respond with more peace after we have expressed ourselves creatively.

Will I leave with a finished art journal?

Most likely no, the process is more important than the end results. And this art journal will be for you to add to many times over.

What people are saying:

This was a creatively fun experience where you get to stretch your imagination and boundaries (hint: there are no boundaries!) and surprise yourself with your endeavors!  – Irene Williams (Abstract Art w/ Collage & Paint Workshop, 2018)

“Rebecca’s workshop was so much fun!  My favorite part was getting our creative juices flowing through guided imagery/poem. It was fun just to rip paper and be creative! I was able to take my favorite photo and turn it in to a unique piece of art.  It was amazing to be free, let go, laugh and explore the art of collage!”  – Kristen (The Landscape Collage Workshop, 2016)

I was invited to an art workshop with Rebecca Maloney & between the laughter and art it was a wonderful time. Our project was a multi-media replication of Van Gogh’s One Starry Night with paints, mosaic and anything we could get our hands on. Not my favorite media to say the least. I still had the BEST TIME! We laughed, helped each other, supported each others’ style and progress and ended up with some pretty great stuff. I would definitely return for another Rebecca session! She was patient, informative, supportive and creative. Her style is calm and friendly. while she shows us what the project is and makes it along side of us. I look forward to our next project! I urge anyone to give it a try! – Marla (Starry Night Collage Workshop, 2016)
