Timothy Harney has been a great influence since studying under him @montcollegeart. He challenged me to really see and consider the many decisions about color and shape. How their relationships create meaning and make a painting/collage visually behave. And always emphasizing the drawing as the foundation of a painting. Thankfully we have stayed in touch and this weekend I visited his most recent exhibit, Tributaries: New Pictures of my Heart @matthewswiftgallery. When mentioning my visit, he graciously planned to meet at the gallery. Timothy inspires me a great deal and I appreciate any opportunity to see his incredible work in person and talk with him.I added only a few examples from the show here. It has been a few years and I finally got to see m It has been a few years and I finally got to see my friend and another one of my favorite collage artists, Dorothy Hall today. Her studio is one of my favorite places. We laugh, make art, and talk about all sorts of things. We share the same excitement about interesting papers and nature. It's not easy to see behind me, but along with painting/collage she does beautiful pen and ink drawings. She is currently curating an art show and planning to give lectures soon about how to keep the creative spark alive.
